Merry Christmas

The turkey has been stuffed, served and eaten. There may still be some leftovers in your double-sided refrigerator at Monarch Medical Center luxury apartments in Houston, but Thanksgiving is now over and it’s time to start decking the halls. If you are feeling like Charlie Brown this year and are looking for ways to get in the Christmas spirit there are lots of places to check out.

The trendy thing to do lately is go to an ugly Christmas sweater party. There just happens to be one at Howl at the Moon, a part bar part concert venue located less than 6 miles away. Music ranges from classic rock to hip hop. So, stop by a thrift store and pick up an ugly Christmas sweater to get in for free on Dec. 23.

About 9 miles away in River Oaks, you can take a Holiday Lights Tour with Attractions with a Spin. This 15-passenger party bike will travel throughout the stately homes of River Oaks for a two-hour tour. White lights wrap the oak trees and hang from their canopies. Sing Christmas carols and enjoy holiday cookies and hot cocoa.

Speaking of Christmas carols, the Houston Symphony preforms Handel’s Messiah at Jones Hall just over 7 miles away. This piece has chorus and solos which tells the story of the first Christmas. Songs include “Every Valley Shall Be Exalted,” “O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings to Zion” and the famous “Hallelujah” chorus.

Have a holly jolly Christmas whether you stay home at Monarch Medical Center luxury apartments or wherever you end up.

Christmas at Bayou Bend

At Monarch Medical luxury apartments for rent in Houston, you live in ultra deluxe surroundings. Not only that, being in the heart of Houston, you have access to fun, festivities and culture on a regular basis.

Perhaps nothing says festive and culture more than holiday events at The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. MFAH is hosting many events for their Christmas at Bayou Bend, but none is as elegant as Cabaret Da Camera at Bayou Bend. Beginning December 10, 2015, the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens will host the event. Da Camera artists will do cabaret style performances twice a night. Each performance will feature a different musical theme. The performances will be staged inside the Cristal Palace Spiegeltent, which is a Belgian “tent of mirrors.” The spectacular Cristal Palace Spiegeltent is located for the holiday season in Bayou Bend’s beautiful Diana Garden.

MFAH has a few other holiday events you should be sure to check out this season, as well. Beginning December 17, 2015, Christmas Village at Bayou Bend with Santa and his reindeer is sure to bring a smile to your face. Bring the whole family to walk through 14 acres of dazzling lights all throughout the Bayou Bend Gardens, listen to holiday music and enjoy special treats. There will also be special guest appearances from Santa and Mrs. Claus, so you won’t want to miss the opportunity for photos with them.

If you want a free family activity, check out Family Day with a Festive Traditions theme on December 20, 2015. Enjoy craft workshops, music, performances and more.

Monarch Medical luxury apartments for rent in Houston are centrally located giving you great access to all that the city has to offer. Stop by today and find your new home.

It’s Almost Time

It’s hard to believe it is already mid-November and the holidays are upon us! It’s time to get settled into your new apartment home at Monarch Medical Center and embrace the remainder of 2015 in style. We are located in the hub of Houston, so you couldn’t find a more convenient home to welcome in 2016.

As you begin to plan your Thanksgiving festivities, feel confident that even the one bedroom apartment home you chose will be spacious and welcoming to family and friends. Take the inviting A2 floorplan. With the open kitchen and generous serving island, there is plenty of space to prepare and serve with ease. The stainless steel appliances are sophisticated and offer all kinds of convenience to your meal planning. So order that bigger turkey, you’ll have room!

The cozy fireplace adds lovely ambiance to your homey gathering. A glass of wine amongst family and friends has never been more relaxing in front of the soft flames. Even if it’s one of those Houston days where you need to turn down the AC a bit to enjoy it to the fullest.

It’s time to get the menu planned and the grocery list started. We love the link to Food Network and Ina Garten’s menu suggestions. There are many things you can begin to prepare in advance to save time and stress when the big day rolls around, so pour a glass of wine and peruse her ideas. The foolproof turkey recipe takes that guesswork and adds confidence to your main course.

Perfect Roast Turkey:

(12 pound) fresh turkey (or thawed frozen turkey – always allow plenty of time to thaw!)
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 large bunch fresh thyme
1 lemon, halved
1 Spanish onion, quartered
1 head garlic, halved crosswise
4 tablespoons unsalted (1/2 stick) melted butter
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Take the giblets out of the turkey and wash the turkey inside and out. Remove any excess fat and leftover pinfeathers and pat the outside dry. Place the turkey in a large roasting pan. Liberally salt and pepper the inside of the turkey cavity. Stuff the cavity with the thyme, lemon, onion, quartered, and the garlic. Brush the outside of the turkey with the butter and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Tie the legs together with string and tuck the wing tips under the body of the turkey.

Roast the turkey for 2 1/2 hours, basting from time to time with pan juices, until the juices run clear when you cut between the leg and the thigh. Remove the turkey to a cutting board and cover with foil; let it rest for 20 minutes. Slice the turkey and serve hot.

Your life at Monarch Medical Center apartment homes will be as easy and wonderful as this turkey recipe. Come see for yourself how enjoyable the remainder of 2015 can be!

Cheers to a Happy Halloween

When you love where you live, hosting gatherings at your gorgeous apartment home is such a pleasure! With plenty of space for guest to mix and mingle, the Halloween party this year will be “Spooktacular”! At Monarch Medical Center luxury apartments for rent in the heart of Houston, you’ll never be afraid to invite your friends and family to see your not so haunted house!

One of our fun residents, Mike, enjoys Halloween so much! He has all kinds of fun decorations, lights and themed party goods he has collected over the years. As is his tradition, he has invited folks over for a big celebration of the season! Big kids of all ages get into the spirit of the day with costumes and deliciously ghoulish food and drinks.

The food has been plotted for a few weeks and this week he has focused on hocus pocus cocktails to serve. He using Esquire’s list of “Spooktacular Halloween Cocktails and Drinks” to ensure he has all the best ingredients on hand.

We vote for The Zombie as our favorite. A Tiki throwback, it’s named appropriately and is always refreshing and delicious. Take that Walking Dead!

As Esquire says “The Zombie is the mother of all freak drinks. Although it may seem like a product of the Pu-Pu platter 1950s, it actually hearkens back to the late ’30s, when Hollywood restaurateur Don the Beachcomber supposedly cooked it up as liquid CPR for some poor SOB experiencing death by hangover.” (insert sound of lips smacking now)

Recipe:

1/2 ounce rum — white rum

1 1/2 ounces rum — golden rum

1 ounce rum — dark rum

1/2 ounce rum — 151-proof rum

1 ounce lime juice

1 teaspoon pineapple juice

1 teaspoon papaya juice

1 teaspoon superfine sugar

If you play your cards right, you just might get an invite to one of the most fun parties ever! At Monarch Medical Center luxury apartments, we take the fright out of searching for a new apartment home in Houston. Stop in and see our spectacular staff in person. Do not worry about approaching with caution….bolding step on through the threshold!

A Smart Move!

At the fabulous community of Monarch Medical Center apartments for rent, our quiet neighborhood in the heart of Houston will charm you at first sight. And the close proximity to the University of Houston, a leading public research university in the vibrant international city of Houston, can be a haven for that serious student seeking a quite environment.

Grace and Zoe are just those students! They met in the dorms their freshman year and hit it off immediately. Both are from previous generations of Cougar families and love their university. Now that they are seniors, they are ready to embrace the young professional lifestyle that will await them after graduation! They discovered Monarch Medical Center apartments a mere 5 miles away from college and it was love at first sight! The beauty of their gorgeous two bedroom apartment, B1, is that it’s not some dorm or college dive. It is pure class and will be the perfect home for years to come.

The spaciously planned layout that is B1 embraces two personalities living together. Bedrooms on opposite corners offer superior privacy and personal space for Grace and Zoe. And with the two bedrooms basically the same expansive size, no drawing straws for who gets the larger home base. Best of all, when it is time to hang out together for meals or their favorite shows, they have all kinds of space! The highlight is the cozy fireplace. What a great aura it exudes! They feel so relaxed and comfortable in their grown up home.

Grace and Zoe love their kitchen too. Some days, they create the full meal. Other nights, popcorn will suffice. And chatting about their days while lounging around the island serving bar is casual and comfy. They look forward to the days when studies are behind them and the chats will be about their work day!

Possibly their favorite of all the extras is their own personal washer and dryer. No worries ever again about leaving their prized possession at the mercy of public laundromats. These days, laundry time and study time are combined! Two jobs, same time equals more time for doing something fun!

Find your path to see Monarch Medical Center apartments for rent in Houston. We are centrally located to all the places you want to be! The Texas Medical Center, Downtown Houston, The Galleria and of course, Houston’s major universities. It’s a smart move!

Halloween…Houston, Texas style

When holidays fall on the weekend, they are always extra fun! And when you live in style and comfort at Monarch Medical Center, hosting the spooky Halloween party for friends or family is a screaming good time.

Just ask our friend Mike, the king of Halloween decoration s and celebrations. He relishes his spacious apartment home close to Downtown, the Medical District and of course the sports venues. (Go Astros!) And next week he is hosting his very first Halloween bash since moving into Monarch Medical Center.

His gourmet style kitchen is an inspiration for creating some crafty and creepy snacks for the party.   Daily, he looks forward to meals prepared in his own home, using ingredients he is confident are healthy and savory. No more nightly takeout food.  And his friends are happy to join in the learning experience. It doesn’t have to be gourmand to be delicious! And just wait until he unleashes some of the ghoulish treats he has discovered online at allrecipies.com.

The menu is set. Keeping it simple and old school traditional spooky has been decided upon. Candy apples dipped. Bowls of candy corn and roasted peanuts have been placed around the apartment for quick snacks. Accent lights have been strung up around the fireplace. Pumpkins artfully decorated. An appropriate number of skeletons adorn the walls.

And here is an easy recipe for a creepy cookie that will be on the table, along with many other choices he’s made from online research. Go on; don’t be afraid to take a bite! Bwhahahahahaha.

Spooky Witches’ Fingers

Every weekend is cause for celebration at Monarch Medical Center apartments for rent in Houston, TX. You will savor the sweet location close to the heart of it all. Slink on over for a visit soon!

Feeling Fit!

Not every day can be spent at the park or on the city trials. But don’t let that get you down. At Monarch Medical Center we have those indoor exercise days covered!  Our private cardio center will keep your heart rate up but your temp cool when the Houston outdoors can’t be tackled.

Ronnie, like most active Monarch Medical Center residents, loves the outdoors. But darn that day job! Yes, he worked really hard to get ahead in corporate America. Yes, he is very happy with his job. But, his heart yearns to be beating at a higher pace than the desk job provides.

Thank goodness for the convenient fitness center at Monarch Medical Center! Some mornings, Ronnie hits the gym before work. He loves that he doesn’t have to pack up his gear in the AM, and then carry a bag of dirty clothes around after a workout. And showering in the privacy of own bathroom is a triple bonus! Those early morning gym days, he’s free to meet his friends out after work for a beverage and bite to eat.  They love the vibe and the less than 7 mile trip to Goode Company BBQ.  And it doesn’t hurt that they know they will always have quality leftovers for lunch the next day!

Other days, he sweats it out after work. Nothing like a few hours at the desk to encourage Ronnie to get his blood pumping in the fitness center! All these gym hours pay off. He’s in tip top shape for all the weekend adventures outdoors!

Whatever gets your heart beat going; feel confident know that Monarch Medical Center provides a great space to get you motived to spend quality time in your gym.  Stop by to see our great location close to downtown and the Medical Center. We are ready to “pump you up” about an exciting new apartment home for rent in Houston!

Mike was a little nervous when he was asked to transfer to Houston. Such a big city to get to know his way around made for some anxious times. But, he knew he liked his job and jumped at the chance to grow within his company. After just a few short weeks, he LOVES it! He has had the luxury of working from home and that is a golden opportunity. When he found his perfect home at Monarch Medical Center, he was thrilled with the benefits of having separate office space from his living areas. Discovering the clever floor plan, A3, was the perfect fit for his needs.

This great apartment home for rent keeps the office away from his personal life. Who needs to be reminded when it is play time that work is right around the corner? In A3, closing the door to the office at the end of the work day is a pleasure. No constant reminders lying around that to you work where you play. And using the second large room for his office keeps everything organized and efficient.  There is plenty of closet space for files and related materials. And when work hours are over, they are really over! Hanging out in his fabulous living room with the cozy fireplace is the perfect wind down space.  Check out that kitchen! Mike may not cook often, but he still enjoys bringing in meals from the local joints. Leftovers for lunch are a bonus!  Sometimes it’s a smorgasbord from Hunan Takee Outee Chinese Restaurant (mostly because he likes the cleaver name!). Or he’s a short hop to the NRG stadium area where Houston favorite Pappasito’s Cantina has become a regular in his dining rotation.

Three cheers for our wonderful location less than three miles from NRG Stadium…home of YOUR Houston Texans Football Team. If you haven’t ventured out to a game yet, make this the year you experience the excitement of live football. J.J. Watt and the team are pumped us this season and you should be too!

Our friends over at Saint Arnold’s host a weekly tailgate….just sign up on their website for your ticket to happiness. Their tailgate is located in the Platinum lot – just look for the red van and trailer and our Saint Arnold flag flying high.

Another local favorite we have discovered is the Old Skool Tailgaters. With the DJ busting out the tunes and the fajitas grilling, they always have a brilliant time! And these are serious fans. Seriously, when you show off an ice sculpture in Houston for a noon kickoff….that’s true commitment! Viva to the Old Skool Tailgaters!

So check the weekly schedule for a time that works into your routine. The next game up is Thursday, October 8th vs Indianapolis Colts. Make sure the check with the Texans for the game colors that day. You want to ensure you have your War Red on, if that’s what the stadium will be rockin’!
